Volunteers Wanted Volunteer Skills we need:- NB: These skills we are asking for are volunteer skills. We know you are busy and working and have your life, so all participation is voluntary. You can help as your time and interest allows. If you can help us out even for 15 minutes once or twice a week that is fine. If you can do more, then great. The aim is to get a bunch of people working in dribs and drabs - but all chugging away collectively at their volunteer job. Editing & Personal Assistant skills There are stacks of admin tasks that need doing. Reading emails, posts and requests. Replying to people, editing & posting news items. Answering people's questions and also generally beefing up people's spirits, encouraging them and inspiring them on to greater efforts and to be more positive in the face of adversity. News Posters Submitting relevant and interesting news items to the site. You can submit news items directly on the Contact us page. NB: Please to remember to include the URLs. We will not publish items whose source is unknown. Technical people Programmers with a knowledge of PHP or Linux. Also people with Electronics skills. Graphics Artist This is a problem I have never properly solved. Someone who can create banners or buttons or do some artwork to make the site visually attractive. And also to advise on improving layout. Note: We've started a mirror site at: African Crisis Mirror. This will be the new site we will work on. We will rewrite AfricanCrisis completely over the next year and transfer functionality in stages to it. So now is a good time to give input as we work on it in bits. Video Editors Can you edit movies in WMV format on MovieMaker or with other programs? Can you put subtitles on existing movies? (e.g. so that english-speaking foreigners can follow Afrikaans film footage). We may need your skills from time to time. Translators People who can translate articles. (Mostly from Afrikaans) Sales, Marketing & Promotions NB: Keep in mind that the Mass Media is not our friend and has never supported us. So we need to find other ways of spreading the word. If you have any experience in sales, marketing or promotion then we need you either for your ideas or to "knock on doors" and spread the word about us - possibly even looking for advertisers and sponsors. Do you have ideas on how the site can be marketed more widely and brought to the attention of more people? Are you prepared to "knock on doors" or to write emails or to write posts on mailing lists or forums in order to promote the site? We need these skills badly. It need not revolve around money. Funds and money would be great, but initially it is merely about exposure and increasing traffic - hopefully so we can get advertisers and sponsors when the volumes are high enough. When our new forums are up, we may even set aside a forum where a "sales team" can brainstorm and work together on ideas and concepts. Take note of the African Crisis rewrite. See the Graphics Artist section above and go to the new Mirror site. Liaising Function The Internet is very tribal. The aim is to hunt down tribes and groups on the Internet and elsewhere. We need to hunt down like minded groups, clubs, etc and then co-operate with them. The concept is to allow them to send news or press releases to African Crisis which we will publish to help them. At the same time liaise with them on developments and get them to reciprocate. The aim is to build up a relationship with various groups and to maintain it by communicating with them on a personal level regularly. A most important part of this function is to build trust, unity and allies and to deal with them on a personal level and "work them". We must liaise with other groups and encourage friendship between all. So your work will go beyond just the website into the deeper issues of unity. Doing-your-bit We are always in need of people who will win over converts one by one, among their friends, their family and their associates. You don't need to make a big splash. Instead the emphasis is on "personal conversion" - winning converts everywhere you go. Wear them down - slowly. Take your time. Don't pick fights. Look for people who might be interested. Slowly hammer away at your family, friends and personal associates. Always try to spread the truth and to open up people's minds. Your aim is to win over people - one by one on a personal level. You must do this whereever you go - inside and outside Africa. Just quietly plug away - like the Communists used to do! Do you have special skills we could use? Maybe you have some other skills, education or insights which I have not mentioned which you think could be of use to us - if not now, then in the near or distant future. Special Projects we want volunteers for:- The website is about information and making information as freely available as possible to people around the world at no cost. This is an absolutely crucial function of the website. My aim is to have the best and most comprehensive sets of detailed information relating to southern Africa online. I want to build up a library of important books. So we need people who are prepared to tackle tasks which will allow us to make even more and better information available on the site. Among the things we want to do more of are: put entire books, movies, documentaries and photos online. Here are some current projects below which I am too overloaded to do. Can you help? NB: With Video editing (where there are horrific & gruesome photos), I would like people to also take out juicy still photos and to write up a photo essay about those photos. Putting Robert Mugabe's Third Chimurenga book online I am one of the few people with access to Robert Mugabe's racist book which he uses to indoctrinate his youth Militia against Whites. It contains a number of juicy anti-white quotes which should also be edited out and summarised and spread around the world. It is in photo copy format. The book must either be scanned and put up as an HTML story or put in PDF format. This book cannot be bought. I got my copy directly from someone at the BBC who allowed me to photocopy it. It is about 200 pages which need scanning, editing, etc. Getting a publication about the ANC online I have in my possession a fantastic booklet about the ANC produced by the previous Govt. It is not big - maybe 50 pages - with photos, quotes, graphs, etc. It is very important to get it online or in PDF format or both. I can scan it, but someone must edit it, resize the photos and compile either HTML or PDFs or both from it. The book: PW Botha - Fighter & Reformer This small book of 120 pages needs editing and to be put online in HTML or PDF format (preferably both). I got the copy directly from PW Botha himself. He said he stands by the quotes and information contained therein. It contains speeches and thoughts of his. It is very good. (I would like someone to help me create a PW Botha page as part of this - with general info and photos about him). Editing a PW Botha Interview about his Christian views I will be getting a DVD copy of a special interview, done in Afrikaans by PW Botha (very recently) where he talks about Christianity. I have his permission to put it online for everyone. I need to edit this and resize it so it can be put online. But, we need someone to put english subtext/subtitles on it so that english-speaking people outside S.Africa can hear his views and thoughts on Christianity. Re-Editing horrific new Africa Addio film footage There were several versions of Africa Addio - in different languages. Some had footage which others did not have. When the Americans created the "Africa Blood & Guts" version of it they actually removed many of the juiciest and most horrific parts from the movie. So believe it or not, despite the glorious title "Africa Blood & Guts" - it is actually much more sanitized and watered-down than the original. So one must laboriously go through and edit out the juicy bits and compare them between versions. I have footage in digital format from Africa Addio which I could not post the first time. It includes:- Footage of cattle hamstrung by the Mau Mau in Kenya. Blacks blowing up farm houses and bulldozing them into the ground in Kenya. Afrikaners (yes, Afrikaners) preparing to leave Kenya and doing a symbolic ox-wagon trek out of there - I kid you not! It also contains awesome footage of the massacre of Muslims by Blacks in Zanzibar - by the thousand. Bodies strewn everywhere, people being marched to mass graves, etc. TV Documentary on chopping arms off blacks I have a 30 minute documentary showing the results of the madness when blacks (in Liberia?) ran around chopping the arms off their enemies. Its not as bloody as Africa Addio but you see deformed blacks whose arms did not quite come off. Most of this footage was suppressed by the international community. It simply needs editing and to be put online.
